Final Project: Dialogue

This project was most definitely my least favorite project from this class. The stress of finals and the difficulty of this project made it very difficult for me to focus on the project and I feel like I ended up with a very shoddy product. I had trouble with both rigs and I just overall didn't enjoy working on this project. I apologize for the poor product that I submitted.

Project 2: Prop Character

This was another project that I really quite enjoyed. The modeling was really enjoyable because I feel like I chose a rather odd object to sculpt, a lava lamp. The glass and rounded shape of the lamp provided an interesting puzzle to solve that I enjoyed. As for the rig, I only ended up rigging the arms and a basic spine, as my model kept blowing up when I would try to do more. Perhaps that was my fault, but I still think the final product was good, nonetheless. The only real issue that I ran into was the lighting. For some reason, no matter what lighting I used, it looked like Flo the Lava Lamp was summoning an underworld demon. While not my intention, it did look kinda cool, so I can't complain too much.

Assignment 5: Walking Legs

This project was my least favorite out of the bunch. I had a lot of trouble getting the cadence of the walk to look natural and I ended up keying the walk twice as fast as it should have been. This led it to look and feel really rushed, which was not the vibe that I was going for. I also may have corrupted the file somehow because when I tried to get a playblast to use for this blog post, it blew up in my face and maya had a conniption. Rather than a video, I'll post some screenshots:

Assignment 4: Dynamic Poses

For this project I put Buckid(s) in several creative poses. I really enjoyed this project, as it was simple and fun, and didn't include any actual animation. I was really happy with the final product of this project, and the class really seemed to like it during critique! It really helped that Buckid's rig is really intuitive, I can't imagine trying to do this with a less polished model/rig!

Project 1: Character Interacting with Prop

Image
This project has been my favorite out of all of our assignments so far. The modeling was really fun, and working with a simple and easy model like Buckid was fun and creative, especially since we got to work from reference videos, which were a huge help. Hammer Model: Reference Video: Final Product: This project was super fun for me. The modeling was really fun and the animation wasn't so bad. The walk cycle was a bit of a pain, but most of the actual actions were simple to key. It was really satisfying to see the final product!

Assignment 3: Bouncing Ball

I didn't like this assignment as much as I did the previous one. So far I have enjoyed modeling much more than animation, as animation is very meticulous and frustrating. The simplicity of this assignment meant that it wasn't as frustrating, but I prefer modeling nonetheless.

Assignment 2: Basic Modeling

Image
I really enjoyed this project. It was my first time really working in Maya and, even though the interface was a little intimidating at first, I think I got the hang of basic modeling. I also felt that I had a lot of creative freedom with Maya, as there aren't many restrictions when it comes to what you can create. All in all, this project was fun and I wish I had the chance to model my chicken-horse hybrid further.
